King Charles has promoted Lt Col Johnny Thompson, known as his right-hand man.
A report in The Telegraph said Johnny Thompson, has been promoted to become one of the monarch’s most senior aides and he will now become the eyes and ears of the king.
The 39-year-old will now serve as a “senior equerry” to King Charles.
“The new role will be more office-based, meaning that Lt Col Thompson will be seen less in public as he helps organize the King’s private affairs,” the publication reported.
The report said that The decision to extend his secondment from the Army to enable him to remain with the Royal household is unusual but is considered an indication of how highly valued he has become to Their Majesties.
Citing sources, the newspaper reported that Lt Col Thompson will begin the new role when a replacement has been found to take on his current duties as equerry, becoming the eyes and ears of the King.
During King Charles recent visit to France, hundreds of people took to social media to post Thompson’s pictures and videos, praising him for his loyalty to the late Queen Elizabeth and her son King Charles.
The dashing officer was also praised for wearing kilts during his royal duties.
