Pink recently opened up about her tumultuous journey through the music industry, from her near-death experience to signing a record deal and her plans for a Las Vegas residency.

Following a harrowing close call, Pink shared how she made a life-changing decision. She decided to stop using drugs immediately, a pivotal moment that set the course for her remarkable career.

Weeks after this life-altering event, the renowned Family Portrait singer inked a record deal with LaFace Records, becoming a member of a girl group. Pink described the group as “token white girls on a Black label,” reflecting the diversity and innovation in her early career.

The record label showed their commitment to grooming their artists by sending Pink to etiquette classes, a gesture aimed at helping her adapt to the nuances of the entertainment industry.

“They wanted me to learn how to wear dresses and use the right fork,” she recalled. However, she admitted to only attending one session, suggesting that such formalities didn’t quite suit her style.

Despite her brief stint in the girl group, Pink decided to pursue her solo career. In 2001, she released her first solo album, Can’t Take Me Home, which quickly achieved double platinum status, solidifying her status as a chart-topping artist.

Reflecting on her past, Pink addressed a statement about not winning the popularity contest among her peers. Pink pointed out, “We sold three million tickets in the last six months, but you don’t really hear about it unless you went.”

She emphasized the importance of image in the entertainment industry and the role of perception in shaping an artist’s career. Standing at 5’3″ and coming from a gymnastics background, Pink noted that she never got a record deal because of her looks, expressing relief that she didn’t have to rely on “conventional beauty” for her success.

As she embraces her journey through life, she proudly defies societal norms. “I like going against societal norms. When they say ‘a woman has to slow down, become smaller, take up less space, calm down’… no, absolutely not… why can’t we ride it ’til the wheels fall off?”

Looking ahead, Pink shared her plans for the future, considering a Las Vegas residency after completing her current tour. She expressed her ambition to create “the best show that Vegas has ever seen,” promising a one-of-a-kind experience for her fans.

With her acrobatic feats and high-wire moves, Pink envisions a performance that can truly shine in the static environment of a Las Vegas residency. “For a performer like me, who has a stage that doesn’t have to travel, oh my God, you can do so much,” she added.

Pink’s journey in the music industry has been marked by resilience, determination, and a commitment to authenticity. As she looks forward to her next chapter in Las Vegas, fans can expect nothing less than an unforgettable experience from this iconic artist.
