Samuel L. Jackson reacts to Richard Roundtree’s death: ‘Love you brother’

Samuel L. Jackson is remembering his co-star Richard Roundtree, who breathed his last on Tuesday. He was 81.

Taking to Instagram, the Marvel actor shared a picture of the duo from the set of 2019’s action flick Shaft, saying, “Richard Roundtree, The Prototype, The Best To Ever Do It!! SHAFT, as we know it, is & will always be His Creation!!,”

He added, “His passing leaves a deep hole not only in my heart, but I’m sure a lotta y’all’s, too.”

The 74-year-old continued, “Love you Brother, I see you walking down the Middle of Main Street in Heaven & Issac’s Conducting your song coat blowin’ in wind!! Angels whispering, ‘That Cat SHAFT Is A Bad Mutha, Shutcho Mouth!!”

Noting, “But I’m Talkin’ Bout SHAFT!! THEN WE CAN DIGIT,'” he continued, pointing to the Oscar winning Isaac Hayes’s Theme from Shaft.

Meanwhile, Richard’s longtime manager, Patrick McMinn, shared the statement, “Richard’s work and career served as a turning point for African American leading men in film,” adding, “The impact he had on the industry cannot be overstated.”
