Google unveils .meme domain for whimsical web addresses

Google Registry has introduced the .meme top-level domain, offering a touch of whimsy to website addresses.

Currently available during an early access period with an additional one-time fee, enthusiasts can secure their distinctive .meme domains.

For those opting to avoid the extra cost, these domains will be publicly accessible starting December 5 at 4pm UTC (12pm ET), adhering to the standard annual price.

Various websites have already embraced the .meme domain, featuring content dedicated to classic cat memes like grumpycat.meme, nyancat.meme, and keyboardcat.meme.

Notably, the meme tracker knowyour.meme has also adopted the new domain. 

While some .meme sites redirect users to .com addresses or other platforms, this addition aligns with Google Registry’s unconventional domain offerings, including .dad, .boo, and the recently launched .ing.

Undeniably, .meme stands out as one of the most whimsical and playful additions to this distinctive collection.
