Warwickshire County Cricket Club has re-signed Pakistan pacer, Hassan Ali, for the upcoming County championship 2024 season.

This marks the second winter signing for the Bears, following the addition of fast bowler George Garton, reinforcing their bowling department.

The right-arm pacer who has already made his mark in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, playing in six of Pakistan’s eight matches, is set to be a crucial asset for Warwickshire.

Bears’ first-team coach, Mark Robinson, expressed his excitement about Hassan’s return.

“Hassan was keen to return,” said Bears coach Mark Robinson.

“He fitted in well last year. He wanted to be part of another push for trophies with the Bears,” he added.

Having initially joined English county cricket with Lancashire in 2022, Hassan Ali made an immediate impact in 2023 by taking 24 wickets in six Championship games and an additional nine in the T20 Blast.

Coach Robinson praised his performance, stating, “He’s a quality performer.”

“A proven wicket-taker, who pulled off some decent cameo roles with the bat as well,” he added.

The 29-year-old expressed his enthusiasm about returning to Warwickshire in the upcoming aforementioned tournament.

“I feel I’m playing in my second home. I’m very comfortable in the dressing room,” Hassan Ali said.

“I didn’t feel like I was playing in another country or another franchise. I can’t wait to come back,” he concluded.

With the return of Hassan Ali and the addition of George Garton, the Bears are gearing up for a competitive 2024 County Championship season.

The Pakistan pacer is expected to join the squad for pre-season training in late March, following his commitments in the Pakistan Super League season 9.
