SAPM on overseas Pakistanis, US ambassador discuss ways to mobilise Pakistani diaspora

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis Jawad Sohrab Malik, in his meeting with US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome, mulled over prospects of mobilising the US-Pakistani diaspora and exploring areas of cooperation in relation to employment opportunities.

During the meeting that took place in the federal capital, SAPM Malik praised the US government for its commitment to continue engaging and partnering with the Pakistani diaspora in the States regarding the challenges faced by Pakistan in technology, humanitarian, social and commercial sectors.

“Delighted to meet with U.S. Ambassador Pakistan Donald Blome to discuss ways to mobilize the U.S.-Pakistani diaspora & the private sector to further Pakistan’s growth,” Malik wrote on his X account.

He also appreciated the “mobilisation of $197 million in investments and contributions” from the Pakistani diaspora in the States.

Highlighting the potential of a diverse US economy, the SAPM also discussed emerging job opportunities and expressed interest in exploring opportunities for U.S. assistance in training youth and creating new opportunities for their employment.

Earlier this month, the US envoy — while taking part in the inauguration ceremony of a government school in Sindh’s Jacobabad district — reiterated his government’s commitment to support Pakistan’s vision for growth and prosperity. 

“This is the 100th school to be built with the help of the Sindh Basic Education Programme of USAID,” the ambassador said while apprising that a total of 106 will be built under the programme would provide quality education to more than 8,000 boys and girls by 2023 and all the schools were based on the same model. He thanked the head teacher, fellow teachers and students for the warm welcome and hospitality.
