The Rock takes matters into his own hands after wax figure backlash

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has taken to social media to address the backlash surrounding a recent wax figure of himself at the Musée Grévin in Paris. 

The 51-year-old actor expressed his concerns about the waxwork’s inaccurate depiction, particularly its lighter skin tone, and revealed that he would be reaching out to the museum for “important details and improvements.”

The controversial waxwork received heavy criticism from fans, prompting The Rock to break his silence. He shared a video by social media comedian James Andre Jefferson Jr, who humorously criticized the statue’s accuracy. The actor seemed amused by the commentary but highlighted his intention to address the issue.

In his Instagram post, The Rock stated, “For the record, I’m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grevin Museum, in Paris France, so we can work at ‘updating’ my wax figure here with some important details and improvements – starting with my skin color.”

The post garnered over 150,000 likes and sparked various comments from fans expressing disappointment and confusion. Many remarked on the statue’s lack of resemblance to the actor and the seemingly incorrect skin tone.

The sculptor, Stéphane Barret, defended his work, mentioning the challenges of achieving a lifelike expression from the chosen sample photo. He emphasized the difficulty of capturing subtle facial expressions to make the statue come alive for visitors.
