Former Pakistan pacer, Wasim Akram, has voiced significant concerns regarding the fitness levels of the Pakistan cricket team.

In an exclusive interview with a local media channel, Akram emphasized the need for regular fitness assessments, highlighting a lack of fitness tests in the current setup.

“I am concerned about the fitness of these players. Now there is no fitness test. When Misbah was the coach and selector, he used to get the Yo-Yo Test and other tests done. A professional cricketer should undergo a fitness test at least once in a month. If you won’t do this, you will face this (defeat vs India),” he said.

The former Pakistan captain also highlighted the instability within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), noting the frequent changes in chairmanship over the last three years.

He pointed out that this uncertainty has instilled fear in both team members and management regarding their inclusion in upcoming series.

“PCB has seen three chairmen in the last 3 years. This created a scare among the team members and management about whether they would be part of the next series or not. From 154 for 2 and then 191 all out was really, really disappointing,” he concluded.

The Men in Green will face off against Australia at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on October 20th.
